Difference of Aluminum Alloy 6061 and Alloy 6063?

The difference between the two mainly includes three aspects, composition, use and production process.

Alloy 6061 aluminum has more composition and stronger hardness than Alloy 6063.

Alloy 6063 is mostly used for building aluminum doors and windows, curtain wall frames, etc., and Alloy 6061 is mostly used for welding, processing, etc.

At the same time, the production process of Alloy 6061 is more complicated than Alloy 6063.

 1. Different composition

Aluminum alloy 6063 composition contains 0.4% Si and 0.7% Mg. The strength of hard materials is 295 Mpa and the strength of soft materials is 111 Mpa. It is used in tubular railings, furniture, frames, and construction extruded profiles.

Aluminum alloy 6061 composition contains 0.6%Mg, 0.25%Cu, 1.0%Mg, 0.09%Cr, hard strength 316Mpa, soft strength 127Mpa, used in corrosion-resistant structures, trucks, ships, vehicles, furniture, etc.

 2. Different uses
Aluminum alloy 6063 is used in construction profiles, irrigation pipes, extrusion materials for vehicles, benches, furniture, elevators, fences, etc., as well as decorative components in different colors for aircraft, ships, light industry departments, buildings, etc.
Aluminum alloy 6061 is used in various industrial structures that require certain strength, weldability and high corrosion resistance, such as pipes, rods, and shapes used in the manufacture of trucks, tower buildings, ships, trams, furniture, machinery parts, and precision processing. Materials, plates.
 3. Different production process

The T6 process of Alloy 6061 is: solution treatment temperature is 530 degrees, artificial aging is made into a T6 state of 160 degrees for plates, and 175 degrees for bars and plates with a thickness of 80 degrees or more.

Alloy 6063's T5 state is air-cooled and artificial aging. The deformation coefficient is small, easy to control, and the hardness is average. The T6 state is water-cooled, the deformation coefficient is large, not easy to control, and the hardness is high.
